This past week was filled with much anticipation for Alison and Craig's wedding. We started with rehearsal #1 on Tuesday with just Alison and Craig, her parents and the pastor. This was held at Grace Lutheran located in West Minster, MD. Pastor Kevin was so sweet and so awesome to work with. Not to mention his church just has some recent remodels which he was very excited about. The brand new carpet was perfect for Alison's fall themed wedding.
On Friday Diana and I drove to Gettysburg to go over everything with the bridal party and remaining family who was not at Tuesday's rehearsal. Everything went quite smoothly and quickly.
Although it was raining on their wedding day, that didn't stop Alison from looking beautiful in her Melissa Sweet gown and surely the weather did not put a damper on things. Guests were shuttled back and forth to the ceremony and reception site via buses the bride and groom reserved.
We were a little hesitant about working with the Gettysburg Hotel as we got a phone call the week of the wedding from their Sales Manager stating that "she was unaware that we would be in attendance at the reception and just didn't understand what our role would be?" Ughh so as I sit on the phone and go over what our role would be, and what the bride and groom were paying us to do...she still didn't get it and said that they have someone to attend to the bride and groom once they get their. Right....like I really believed they would bustle a gown (the two times it fell out) and that they would make a run outside of the hotel property if one was needed. The list could go on and on.
Luckily when we arrived we were greeted by the very funny and very pleasant Terry, who was their Maitre D. She was fantastic and was a actually pleased that we were there..."as bustles weren't her thing!" Anyway, the reception was beautiful and I almost lost it when Alison danced with her dad! They had a beautiful choreographed dance to Heartlands, I Loved Her First, a very popular father/daughter selection.
